Karen is a Partner in PwC’s McLean, Virginia office. She specializes in tax compliance outsourcing and co-sourcing arrangements and is a lead firm tax specialist for tax department process improvement projects. Karen has more than 25 years of tax experience in both public accounting and industry tax departments. She is the Corporate Tax Reporting Leader for PwC’s East Region tax practice as well as the Washington Metro market champion for PwC’s Tax Reporting & Strategy services.
Karen has extensive experience working with tax departments in key areas of people, process, technology, and structure. She has helped her clients improve tax department quality and efficiency through process improvements, technology innovation and application of project management tools. She has ASC 740 experience, tax planning and tax compliance experience and has worked with companies of all sizes.
Karen previously led one of PwC’s compliance Centers of Excellence. She leverages this practical experience to efficiently lead large scale tax compliance projects and consult with tax departments on their own internal processes. In addition, she has consulted on PwC’s own internal continuous improvement initiative, Connected Thinking for Excellence.
Karen has been trained in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Change Integration – Business Process Reengineering methodology as well as Six Sigma Process Improvement approaches and is certified as a Six Sigma Greenbelt. She is a C.P.A with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Central Missouri and has an M.B.A. from the University of Dallas.
