Katrina Welch (Moderator)
Katrina Welch is Vice President and Tax Director for Texas Instruments, where she is responsible for administration of TI’s tax matters, including public policy issues involving taxation.
Previously, she was Tax Counsel and Compliance Director for Texas Instruments, where she advised the Tax Department, Corporate Finance and Operations, in areas such as International Corporate Structuring, Controversy, and HR Compensation, and oversaw the U.S. Federal and State Income and Franchise Tax function, as well as International compliance filings with the IRS.
Prior to joining Texas Instruments, Katrina was Tax Director at Digital Convergence, and then Entrust and Kaneb (both publicly traded), and before that she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers, all in Dallas.
She has a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from the University of Texas in Austin and her JD and LLM in Tax from Southern Methodist University.
Katrina is Past-President, and current Chapter Representative and Board of Directors member of Tax Executives Institute’s Dallas Chapter. Katrina also served on TEI’s Vision 20/20 Task Force, is Chair of TEI’s Federal Tax Committee, a past Vice-Chair of TEI’s Corporate Tax Management Committee, and a member of TEI’s Emerging In-House Tax Professionals Committee. She serves also as TEI’s Technical Committee Structure leader, Diversity Task Force leader, and a member of the TEI Board. Katrina has also served on TEI’s Executive Committee, and as a Regional Vice President.
Katrina is a member of the Tax sections of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, and Dallas Bar Association. She is a Past Chair for each of the Dallas Bar Tax Section and the Texas State Bar Tax Section’s International Tax Committee, and a member of the Board of Texas Federal Tax Institute. Past presentations include the National Institute for Women Corporate Counsel, Tax Officers Summit, TEI Midyear Conference, TEI Annual Conference, TEI IRS Audits and Appeals Conference, TEI Leadership Foundations Seminar, TEI Region V-VI/IRS Liaison Meeting, Dallas Bar Association-Tax Section, Baker McKenzie North American Tax Practice Group, Hewlett Packard Global Tax Women’s Network, Dallas Society of CPA’s Convergence, TI Women’s Initiative, TI Women in Finance, TI Black Employee Initiative Leadership Roundtable, TI Blacks in Finance & Operations, TI Finance & Operations Knowledge Sharing Session, and TI Technology and Manufacturing Group Leadership Summit.
Katrina is a graduate of Leadership Texas and a former member of the Committee of the Board, and a member of the board of High Tech High Heels. She is also a member of TI’s Finance Council, Finance Development Steering Team, Co-Mentor of a Finance Mentoring Circle and immediate past Chair of TI’s Finance United Way Campaign, a member of Dallas First Presbyterian Church’s Youth Committee, Treasurer of National Charity League’s North Dallas Chapter, President of Young Men’s Service League’s Carrollton Chapter, member of Plano West Senior High School-Based Improvement Committee, and a fifth-grade room mom at Mitchell Elementary.
